Our Favorite LA Pumpkin Patches

It used to be that you went to a pumpkin patch to, well, pick out a pumpkin. Sometimes, if you were lucky enough your parents took you to the patch that had the “spooky house” where you could stick your hand inside a bowl of “eyeballs” even though you knew they were grapes (and, looking back on it you know now why you always caught a cold in the days after). But now,  pumpkin patches have transcended from the ordinary to the extraordinary. With Hayrides and bounce houses and trains painted like cows. Where it’s not all about the pumpkin but the experience. A few weeks ago, we wrote 5 Fun Things To Do in LA For Halloween and gave a nod to the pumpkin patch.  With the latest celebrity sightings at LA’s best pumpkin patches, we thought we would give you the inside scoop on some of our favorite places to scoop up your own pumpkin in and around LA.

At Mr. Bones in West Hollywood you have a good chance of running into a celebrity or two. This year, Jennifer Lopez, Fergie, Jessica Alba, Rachel Zoe, Jaime King and Natasha Alam have been spotted at this pumpkin patch hot spot. Yes, we said that. With a self-described “Paparazzi Pen”  for photographers this popular attraction has a lot of fun in store for kids and the kid in all of us. They have a petting zoo and pony rides as well as a boutique where you can purchase lots of Halloween items. And of course, they have pumpkins. Lots of them!

If you are looking for a little bit of country in a lot of city, you can check out Shawn’s Pumpkin Patch in Culver City. Named one of the best pumpkin patches in Los Angeles, there is a lot to do while at Shawn’s. From an Orbatron to Shawn’s Playland with bounce houses and pony rides, there is something for everyone. One of the great things about this pumpkin patch is admission is free and the prices are very reasonable in the world of pumpkin patch attractions.

If you are looking to get away from it all (and when we say away, we mean a freeway drive away), you can check out Underwood Farms in Moorpark. Recently Kim Kardashian and Kanye West brought their daughter, North, out for some fun. While many of the tabloids speculated on Kim and the baby’s leather pants choice for a pumpkin patch, we were wondering what kind of pumpkin she got. During their Fall Harvest Festival, you can go on a Hayride around the farm (amazing), check out the pig races, go through a corn maze or listen to live music while hanging out in the shade. Your kid (or you, we won’t tell) can even take pictures on a real tractor. Maybe it was even once a celebrity tractor.

With a pumpkin weigh in contest (sign us up!), a corn maze and wagon ride Tanaka Farms in Irvine is another pumpkin patch worth the drive. Their Harvest Festival lasts for a month and is very family friendly. You can pick your own pumpkins, and, while doing that pick your own vegetables too! Local gardeners can compete for cash and prizes with their very popular pumpkin contest every year. They also grow and sell their own seasonal fruits and vegetables. Talk about farm fresh.

Come see all that LA has to offer with LA Insider Tours

  • “Don’t Hesitate….Just Do It!!”

The tour was a lot of fun and he even took us to less well known spots for some great photo ops! Definitely recommend doing and would absolutely do another tour with these guys when next back in LA!

  • “Perfect fit for our family!”

Our tour was AMAZING. This is one of the most professional companies I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

  • “LOOK NO FURTHER”

I can recall doing a bus tour of LA a number of years ago, and that tour did not remotely compare to what we experienced with our number one guide Rivers. Our family of four, including two boys aged 13 and 10, had the best day possible.

  • “Worth the Splurge”

Eight hours seems like a lot of time, but the day just flew by. It was so fun and interesting. I would do this again with no regrets.

  • “Great family day”
