5 Great New Hotels Opening in LA for 2020

Traveling to Los Angeles this year? Then you’ll want to check out one of these five new hotels opening in 2020. Brand new, with all the modern amenities and perks you could ever want, they’re sure to please every member of your traveling party, whether you’re a group of business travelers in the city for a conference, a traveling family on a budget or a couple looking to get away for some fun over a long weekend.
1. Hotel Nue Hollywood, The Unbound Collection by Hyatt
Opening early in the year, Hotel Nue Hollywood, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, is a boutique property with lots of individual style and flair. Because it is a part of a worldwide hospitality brand, you can expect world-class service, but as it’s a member of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, a group of hotels known for their unique offerings, you’ll enjoy a stay that’s far from what you might expect at another big-box hotel. This property, with just a little over 50 accommodation options, provides upscale luxury in a great location, with appeal for both leisure and business travelers.
2. The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood
If you’ve stayed at a Godfrey-branded property before, in Chicago or the Northeast, you may be familiar with its young, millennial-friendly, yet still affordable, style. The Los Angeles outpost will offer a few hundred guestrooms, a restaurant and rooftop pool. Guestrooms are sleek and contemporary, while the dining and drinking spaces are suave and sophisticated. This hotel also is scheduled to open early in the year.
3. Fairmont Century Plaza

The famously luxurious Fairmont brand is coming to Century City in 2020, as Fairmont takes over the current Century Plaza hotel and rebrands it as the Fairmont Century Plaza following extensive renovations. The property is slated to open in April, with nearly 400 guestrooms, over 60 luxury residences and more. The hotel is set across two towers, with 46 stories each, for a truly mammoth property.
4. Thompson Hollywood
Similar to the Godfrey brand, the Thompson brand is also young, vibrant and exciting. The brand expects to open a new-build property, the Thompson Hollywood, in April with 200 guestrooms, a rooftop deck and a pool. The property is being built on Wilcox Avenue, between Hollywood and Sunset, for a truly desirable location, no matter your reason for traveling.
Thompson is also opening a property under its sister brand, Tommie, in August 2020. Tommie Hotels offers micro-suites, and the brand is making its world debut in Los Angeles, with the property opening in the Cahuenga Corridor with 212 guestrooms.
5. Pendry West Hollywood
The Pendry brand comes to Los Angeles in 2020 for the first time as well. A modern, luxurious property, the Pendry West Hollywood is taking over the former House of Blues venue on Sunset Strip. Plans for the hotel include nearly 150 guestrooms, 40 condos, a restaurant, bowling alley and live music venue.
