Holiday Trees in Los Angeles

Silver Bells, Silver Bells… and a lot of tinsel too. It’s Christmas time in the city and no one does it quite like Hollywood. From over the top homes to Christmas trees that seem to touch the sky, Los Angeles decorates the holidays like the true star that we are. We are, after all, called Tinseltown. If you are here for the holidays, check out some of the awesomely decorated areas throughout the city. It is totally worth it. While there are many homes that go above and beyond, here are some of our favorite public and shopping areas that would do the big guy in the red suit proud.

The Grove/Los Angeles

One of the tallest trees in Los Angeles, the Grove Christmas tree stands 100 feet. The centerpiece of this shopping and entertainment complex, the tree is lit in mid November in a big celebration featuring many celebrities. Decorated with over 10,000 lights and 15,000 ornaments, the tree is a major attraction for anyone visiting LA. And it doesn’t stop there. Families can also visit Santa daily and it snows at 7pm and 8pm every night. So now even Los Angeles can have a White Christmas.

Downtown LA

The official Los Angeles County Christmas tree is located at the music center in Downtown LA. This year it is being lit this coming Monday, November 30th – so you still have time to be a part of this great event. This beautiful tree, which you can see lit for most of the Holiday season will be ushered in by music and fanfare. If you don’t have the chance to make it to the lighting, you can still take in all of the decorations that downtown has to offer including a nutcracker village and an ice skating rink in the middle of downtown.

Beverly Hills

Gotta love tradition, and Beverly Hills always puts up an amazing display and they don’t dissapoint. Nearly 150,000 lights will be lit along Rodeo drive. Along the median you will find full size Baccarat chandeliers, lighted birch trees and palm trees, plus vibrant poinsettias. You will also find wonderful displays at The Beverly Wilshire (AKA, The Pretty Woman hotel) and The Four Seasons.  While you are there viewing the lights, you can stop for something to eat or shop for that special someone in your life.

3rd Street Promenade/Santa Monica

Can’t leave out the beach and Santa Monica amps you up for the holidays with their amazing tree, which is lit in the Center Court of the shopping area of 3rd Street promenade. The whole outdoor shopping area will be brightly lit and decorated to really put you in a festive mood while shopping for friends and family. You can be a part of the lighting ceremony on December 3rd. In addition to the Christmas tree and decorations, there will also be lighting a Menorah at sundown every evening between December 6th and the 13th in celebration of Hanukah. And finally, you can also enjoy some ice skating at ICE at Santa Monica from November 1 to January 18th. Oh what fun!
