5 Great Spring Break Activities in Los Angeles
Spring break is just around the corner and it is time to start planning all of the fun activities that will fill your vacation and make it a fun and memorable one. If you are traveling to L.A., (which is a great idea!) then here are 5 fun activities for you to enjoy. Whether you are coming with your family or a bunch of friends, you can make the most of your week off in L.A.!
The Beaches
With miles of coastline, Los Angeles has great beaches and taking time for a beach day while here is always an enjoyable experience. We have many beaches and options whether you are visiting as a family or here with your friends. Bring your beach umbrellas and towels and hang out by the shore or you can set up surfing lessons or go whale watching. You can also roller skate or take a bike ride down the paths that connect the various beaches. If you want to keep the sand out of your bathing suit and still enjoy the beach views, another great place to visit is the Santa Monica pier. While there, you can take a spin on the solar powered Ferris Wheel at Pacific Amusement Park or enjoy an ice cream after riding the carousel originally built in the 1920’s.
Amusement Parks
You could fill up a whole week with the various amusement parks that surround Los Angeles. From Magic Mountain in Santa Clarita to the house that the mouse built (yes, Disneyland) in Anaheim, to Universal Universal Studios here in LA and Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park – you can have fun day trips every day. If you have older children or its just you and your friends, we recommend Six Flags Magic Mountain. It has 19 roller coasters which is the world record for the most roller coasters in an amusement park. Last year, they opened Twisted Colossus which is a renovation of the old Colossus and is now the world’s longest hybrid roller coaster.
Of course, everyone enjoys a good day at Disneyland. About an hour and a half outside of the city in Anaheim, Disneyland is a great day trip. Walt Disney’s original park, Disneyland opened in 1955. From Toon Town to the tea cups to Mr. Toads wild ride, visiting Disneyland is truly a magical place for kids. You can also hop over to California Adventure where they have awesome rides and great food options. It’s no wonder it has been such a popular destination for over 60 years.
If you want to stay close to LA and love the movies then check out Universal Studios. Part movie theme park, part movie history, Universal Studios is a fun place to take the whole family. They have movie themed rides such as Jurrassic Park : The Ride, Revenge of the Mummy, Transformers: The Ride and the Universal Experience where you can see all of the costumes and props from the last 100 years. If rides aren’t your thing, you can still experience some awesome 3D movies, Stunt Shows and live shows. One of Universals greatest attractions is the tram ride that shows visitors some of the most famous studio sets in the world today including Psycho, War of the Worlds, Back to the Future, The Sting, The Great Outdoors and Desperate Housewives Wisteria Lane to name a few. While on the tram tour, park guests can also experience an 8.3 magnitude earthquake, a flash flood AND a visit from Jaws.
If you want a more leisurely amusement park experience, head over to Knotts Berry Farm where there are plenty of rides for the kiddos, the lines are easy and Snoopy is there to give you a hug.
