pap2

Award show season in Los Angeles is starting, with the People’s Choice Awards just airing and The Golden Globes coming up this weekend, LA will be definitely be seeing stars. Then there is the Screen Actors Guild Awards, The GRAMMYs and, of course, the big daddy of them all… the Oscars. While you can always spot celebrities in and around Los Angeles, it is definitely at a high during the next couple of months as all the A Listers swarm to tinsel town to celebrate their achievements in acting and music. With that said, we thought we would share with you  the top 5 places to spot celebrities in and around Los Angeles.

Sunset Junction

Sunset Junction is where Sunset Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard meet in the neighborhood of Silverlake. Known as one of the hippest areas of Los Angeles, Silverlake is home to a variety of interesting restaurants, shopping and coffee shops that draws in entertainment industry folks big and small. If you want a great cup of coffee, check out Intelligentsia. While there, you can grab a seat, settle in and you may run into one of your favorite stars. Celebs spotted there include Drew Barrymore, Zachary Quinto, Olivia Wilde and Jane Lynch. You can also head over to Café Stella for some French food worth trying. While there you might spot a celebrity or two. Even if you don’t, you will definitely have a satisfyingly full belly when you leave.

Malibu Country Mart

If you didn’t already love Malibu for its sweeping views and beautiful beach, you will definitely love it for the Malibu Country Mart. Don’t be fooled by the name. It’s definitely more city than country.  Part outdoor mall, part entertainment center, part foodie heaven, you will find a variety of things to do while hanging out there. There is a great playground for the kiddies and a fun outdoor dining area. You will find high end retailers from Ralph Lauren and John Varvatos to Planet Blue and Chrome Hearts there. And you can eat at some yummy restaurants such as Nobu, Taverna Tony’s or local favorite John’s Garden. Celebs spotted at the Malibu Country Mart include Pierce Brosnan, Cindy Crawford, Patrick Dempsey, The Kardashians, Adam Levine, Tori Spelling, Simon Cowell and many others.

Robertson Boulevard

Talk about a place to see and be seen. From the extremely popular boutiques such as Kitson, Lisa Kline, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph Lauren and Tory Burch to fabulous restaurants such as The Ivy and Newsroom Cafe, Robertson Boulevard is not only a fun place to visit, it is also a  mecca for celebrities. Seen shopping or dining there over the years include the famous faces of  J. Lo, Paris Hilton, Hillary Duff, Jessica Alba, Tom Hanks,  Britney Spears,  the Kardashians, Gwen Stefani, Tom Cruise,  Jessica Simpson, Katie Holmes and many more. Robertson is also a huge hangout for paparazzi looking to get a shot of celebs dashing in and out of Robertson’s many stores or walking out of its most famous restaurant.

Melrose Avenue

They didn’t name a TV show after this place for nothing. If you want to do some shopping where you can find everything from cutting edge to classic then look no further than Melrose. Home to the famous Fred Segal clothing store, Melrose has seen its share of celebrities shopping including Taylor Swift, Hayden Panetierre, Matthew Morrison, Joel Madden, Selena Gomez, Renee Zellweger, Victoria Beckham, Megan Fox, Rita Ora, Adrien Brody, Halle Berry, Dave Grohl, Salma Hayek and many others. While you are rubbing elbows with movie and tv stars, you can grab a bite to eat at the original Johnny Rockets or even do some antique shopping along Melrose Place. Plus you never know who, or what you will find at the weekly flea market held at Fairfax high school.  You should check it out!

Red Carpet Bleacher Seats & Seat Fillers

While you can’t always buy tickets to the award shows, you can always see your favorite stars as they walk the red carpet. The Oscars offers 700 bleacher seats to fans to sit along the red carpet and watch  arrivals. You may also get “work” as a seat filler at some of these events and you can get a real up close and personal view of celebrities and be a part of an award show. Basically, the producers don’t want any empty seats on camera so if a celebrity gets up to go to the bathroom, you run in and keep their seat warm for them.  A few different companies are contracted out to find seat fillers and it is fun work if you can get it. After all, you may end up sitting next to your favorite celebrity and he or she might even talk to you. Won’t that be a great story around the dinner table?
