5 Amazing Views of Los Angeles
There is nothing like a great view and Los Angeles has a ton of them. From the mountains to the shores, LA offers amazing scenic views of the best this city has to offer. If you want to get a great look at LA, then stop by one of these places on your next visit!
Griffith Observatory
Griffith Observatory
You know the saying “on a clear day you can see forever”? Well that is what you get with the show stopping views from Griffith Observatory . You really can see forever. From the San Gabriel and San Bernadino Mountains stretching miles to the East to the Hollywood Sign and the city below, this is one of the number one places to view the best of Los Angeles and beyond. The most visited public observatory in the world, The Griffith Observatory hosts around 1 million people a year. It is also where James Dean gave one of his iconic performances in “Rebel Without a Cause” and Charlie’s Angels kicked into action in “Full Throttle”. Where meteors crash to earth in “Transformers” and is the welcome center of “Jurassic Park” (the original). There are so many wonderful things about the Griffith Observatory and so many spots to take epic photos – it is definitely a view worth stopping for.
Getty Center
Getty Center
If you want it all (and don’t we? ), then look no further than the sweeping views from The Getty Center. Not only will you see excellent views of LA’s West Side, Century City, downtown LA, you can also get an ocean view and might even spot the ferris wheel on the pier in Santa Monica. Opened in 1997, this 1.7 BILLION dollar structure is located in Brentwood and sits upon a hilltop overlooking Los Angeles. The whole experience of the Getty Center is fabulous at the start – from the hovertrain that takes you from the underground parking garage to the top of the mountain to the amazing 134,000 square foot central garden to the J. Paul Getty Museum. Even better than the views is that this museum is free and we can take you there on one of our many tours!
Point Dume
Point Dume Hike
Now, if you want a complete ocean view (and who doesn’t?), then we suggest one of the many hiking trails throughout our beach communities. We love Point Dume not only for its celebrity status (many popular movies and tv shows were filmed here) but because you can hike up this 63 acre spread of both sand and water and take a look at sweeping views of the ocean. On a clear day you can even see seals and migrating whales during peak season. Talk about ocean joy!
City Hall Observation Deck
City Hall Observation Deck
If you have part of a day to spend in Los Angeles and you don’t know what you want to check out, then we suggest Downtown LA. The city that boasts largest government center outside of Washington D.C. has a plethora of things to do in the heart of downtown. From a variety of food at Grand Central Marketplace to Pershing Square (you might recognize it from the movie “Speed”) where you can ice skate in the winter time. And if you are looking for the best view that money can’t buy (because it is FREE!) then take a stop at LA City Hall. While there you can request a trip to the viewing deck from the guards downstairs and you will be whisked up to the 27th floor and you will see the commanding views of downtown and Disney Hall. Talk about a sight to see!
Perch Downtown
Perch – Downtown LA
If you want to sit down and relax and have a bite to eat while surrounded by a gorgeous view daytime OR night, then we suggest you make a reservation at Perch. This 15th floor, French inspired bistro offers unobstructed views of Downtown LA on their outdoor patio. At night, anyone 21 and over can go to the rooftop lounge and enjoy music and dancing surrounded by the sparkling lights of the city. On top of this breathtaking, high-rise view of the city, you can enjoy a live cabaret act on certain evenings or just sit back at one of their two outdoor fireplaces or various fire pits among lounge or table seating.
