Beat the heat in LA!

favorite beaches annenberg

While September 23rd officially marked the beginning of Fall, we still don’t see it here in Los Angeles. With temperatures soaring and air conditioning running 24/7, we probably won’t see colder weather for a few more weeks. Here are some ways to beat the heat in LA.

Go to the beach

Life’s a beach in Los Angeles and with miles of coastline, we have some incredible beaches here from the South Bay (Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach) to Venice, Santa Monica and Malibu. Relax under an umbrella, take a cooler with you and enjoy the breeze coming off of the ocean. You can also work on your tan, so it is a win win! If you have a family, there are several family friendly beaches you can visit. You can also spend time at the beach and also see famous movie locations at the same time, like Point Dume in Malibu.

Learn to surf

SurferGet into the water to cool off and have some fun! Surf lessons are a great way to enjoy the ocean. If you aren’t interested in getting in the water, then you can hang out on the water by Whale watching or taking a day cruise. You can also go parasailing and enjoy the breeze while rushing over the water the sky. Check out some of our favorite water activities here.

Go to a museum

Spend some time indoors and enjoy the air conditioning in one of our many museums. Great, family friendly museums include The California Science Center, Natural History Museum, The Peterson Automotive Museum, The Getty Museum or The La Brea Tar Pits. Fun and affordable, these museums are a nice way to see some fantastic things and to beat the heat! To learn more about our favorite museums for the family read about them here.

  • “Don’t Hesitate….Just Do It!!”

The tour was a lot of fun and he even took us to less well known spots for some great photo ops! Definitely recommend doing and would absolutely do another tour with these guys when next back in LA!

  • “Perfect fit for our family!”

Our tour was AMAZING. This is one of the most professional companies I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

  • “LOOK NO FURTHER”

I can recall doing a bus tour of LA a number of years ago, and that tour did not remotely compare to what we experienced with our number one guide Rivers. Our family of four, including two boys aged 13 and 10, had the best day possible.

  • “Worth the Splurge”

Eight hours seems like a lot of time, but the day just flew by. It was so fun and interesting. I would do this again with no regrets.
