6 LA Rooftops for Soaking Up the Last of Summer

Summer is almost gone, but you can still grab on to a little bit of summer fun and hang onto it for good, when you visit these amazing LA rooftop eateries and bars. Rooftop spaces in LA are known for providing awesome views and equally awesome experiences, so what are you waiting for? Add one of these rooftops to your LA travel itinerary stat!

1. L.P. Rooftop Bar

Photo of LP Rooftop Bar in Los Angeles at nightIn West Hollywood, L.P. Rooftop Bar sits atop the similarly named E.P. restaurant. Grab dinner at the former, for some yummy Asian food, and then head upstairs, to the rooftop bar where “cool” is an understatement. Wear your best outfit, because the cameras will be a’flashin’ and you want to be ready. Even if you don’t appreciate the glitzy crowd, you’ll still love the unique drink options and the killer views.

2. Ace Hotel Pool

So maybe a rooftop bar scene isn’t your thing. Why not try a rooftop pool instead? The Ace Hotel opens up its pool space to the public, 11 a.m.–2 a.m. Alongside the pool is a casual rooftop bar with a nice dining menu, that part of the time is more party-style, with a DJ, and the other part of the time is a bit more high-brow, with art shows and pop-ups. If you prefer something more low-key, make your visit during the daytime.

3. Broken Shaker

This rooftop space is owned by the Freehand Hotel, a budget-friendly hospitality brand that’s known for its hostel-like atmosphere for an older crowd of travelers that maybe don’t want to share a bunk with a stranger. Think fun and social, but with privacy and extra amenities. The Broken Shaker carries some of this vibe as well, alongside a beach-y menu and great views.

4. The Highlight Room

Highlight Room

Known for its food just as much as its nightlife and views, The Highlight Room provides visitors with live music, bottle service and Hollywood Sign scenery. If you just want dinner, not to party, then make sure you snag one of the few dinner tables, so you can feast on the rooftop space’s full dinner menu, filled with succulent seafood selections.

5. Mama Shelter

The Mama Shelter rooftop at the hotel by the same name is totally relaxed and fun, without being over the top. The cocktails are a lot of the classics that you know and love, while the food has some international flair. The activities available to visitors really range, from games to movie nights to yoga.

6. Perch

If you’re in LA on a weekday and you want to save a bit of cash on your rooftop experience, head to Perch. Every weekday, the restaurant hosts its sunset happy hour, where small plates and live music combine along with cheap drinks to keep even the pickiest travelers happy. You can get a cocktail for as little as $7. If you want a morning rooftop experience, also keep Perch in mind, as it serves a nice weekend brunch.

  • “Don’t Hesitate….Just Do It!!”

The tour was a lot of fun and he even took us to less well known spots for some great photo ops! Definitely recommend doing and would absolutely do another tour with these guys when next back in LA!

  • “Perfect fit for our family!”

Our tour was AMAZING. This is one of the most professional companies I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

  • “LOOK NO FURTHER”

I can recall doing a bus tour of LA a number of years ago, and that tour did not remotely compare to what we experienced with our number one guide Rivers. Our family of four, including two boys aged 13 and 10, had the best day possible.

  • “Worth the Splurge”

Eight hours seems like a lot of time, but the day just flew by. It was so fun and interesting. I would do this again with no regrets.

  • “Great family day”
